JSB began as a military band, and formally turned Symphonic in 2002. JSB serves as an integral part in Jurong Secondary School, providing an additional avenue for students to express themselves musically. Students undergo rigorous training and showcase their talent at performances and competitions. JSB has on many occasions performed at the Taman Jurong Edusave Award Ceremony, graced by Deputy Prime Minister and MP for Jurong GRC, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam. Under the baton and tutelage of the school’s Band Conductor, Mr Erik Tan, JSB took part in the 2016 bi-annual Singapore International Band Festival achieved Certificate of Bronze.
