Registration fee of S$100.00 (non-refundable) per participating band will be charged upon receipt of application form.

 

Participating fees will be charged upon confirmation of musicians by 15 April 2012 as follows:

 

Open Division:

S$25.00 per participant (Max. S$1600 per band)

   

Division I/ II/ III:

S$15.00 per participant (Max. S$1000 per band)

   

 

Do note that there will be no refund of any fees in any circumstances.

All crossed cheques should be made payable to "Wind Bands Association of Singapore".


Local schools may also use IFFAS to make payment to Vendor ID: MOE900116
No receipt will be issued.

 

Foreign bands can make their payment via wire transfer. Bank details will be provided upon receipt of application form.

 

Application will be void should payment is not received within 7 days upon receipt.


 

Marking Scheme

The adjudicators will judge the performance based on the following criteria:

   

1. Sound

a. Intonation

b. Tone Quality

c. Balance

   

2. Technique

a. Articulations

b. Ensemble Musicianship

 

c. Rhythm

   

3. Musical Performance

a. Phrasing

b. Dynamics

c. Interpretation

   

4. Choice of Literature (Applicable for Open Division only)

   

Final result will be the averaged mark given by all adjudicators, rounded up to 2 decimal places.

 

Results will be announced at the end of each session.

 

In the case of a draw between two or more bands, the Division winner will be decided by adjudicators' vote.

 

Tuning Room & Warm-Up

Each participating band will be entitled to use the Tuning Room for 15 minutes (Division I/ II/ III) & 20 minutes (Open Division) on the day of contest.

 

Provision of Instruments

Standard concert percussion instruments (e.g. Marimba, Xylophone, Timpani, etc) and piano will be provided for use during the Competition. Information will be provided upon receipt of application.

Bands are allowed to bring their own percussion instruments. However, do note that all set up must be done within the stipulated stage presence time.

There will be no provision of professional timpanist for tuning of timpani.

 

Penalty

Performance time exceeding stipulated by 1 second or more will result in 5% deduction of final marks.

 

Kindly note that results after enforcement of penalty will be final and non-negotiable.

 

Recordings

Unauthorised photography, video and audio recording are NOT allowed in The Republic Cultural Centre & Esplanade Concert Hall during the Festival.

 

Special permission may be granted for photography and video recording for archival purposes during workshops/masterclasses conducted by our adjudicators. This is subjected to approval by clinicians and Organising Committee. Kindly contact the Event Secretariat for more information.
